Tribeca Festival 2026 Lineup Is Here — And the 25th Anniversary Is Going Big

The Tribeca Festival isn’t just celebrating a milestone in 2026—it’s making a statement.

For its 25th anniversary, the festival is rolling out one of its most ambitious lineups yet: 118 feature films (including a record-breaking 103 world premieres) and 86 short films, all set to take over New York City from June 3–14. And if there’s one thing that’s clear from this announcement, it’s that Tribeca is doubling down on what it does best—bringing together culture, music, storytelling, and conversation in one place.

A Music-Driven Celebration From Start to Finish

Tribeca has always had a strong connection to music storytelling, and this year, it’s front and center.

Opening Night is already shaping up to be a moment with the world premiere of Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World), directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. And it doesn’t stop at the screening—there’s a live performance from Earth, Wind & Fire and The Roots to set the tone.

Throughout the festival, expect one-night-only performances from artists like Sara Bareilles, Peter Frampton, Mumford & Sons, and The LOX.

Then comes Closing Night—with something that feels very “full circle” for New York. Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen will premiere, followed by an appearance from Alicia Keys herself.

The Film Lineup: Star Power Meets Discovery

Tribeca continues to balance major names with emerging voices, and the 2026 slate reflects that mix perfectly.

You’ve got projects featuring talent like Aubrey Plaza, Katie Holmes (who also writes and directs), Alicia Vikander, Paul Rudd, Emilia Clarke, Zach Braff, and even Quentin Tarantino appearing on screen.

At the same time, Tribeca is still doing what it’s always done best—introducing audiences to new filmmakers. This year includes 55 first-time directors, reinforcing the festival’s role as a launchpad for the next wave of storytellers.

Documentaries That Span Culture, Sports, and Politics

The documentary slate is just as stacked—and wide-ranging.

From sports icons like Carmelo Anthony to tennis legends Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, to comedy with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, the lineup covers a lot of ground.

There’s also a strong nostalgia factor—Doc Meets World reunites the Boy Meets World cast for a 30th anniversary moment, while Playing POTUS brings together comedy heavyweights like Will Ferrell and Maya Rudolph to reflect on political satire.

And in true Tribeca fashion, there’s also space for deeper, more reflective storytelling—including projects tied to September 11, a subject that remains core to the festival’s origin.

Shorts Program Continues to Deliver

Tribeca’s Shorts program remains one of the most respected in the world, and 2026 keeps that momentum going.

This year features 86 short films, including 45 world premieres, with performances from Alan Cumming and Nina Dobrev, alongside storytelling from filmmakers like Spike Lee.

The program continues to spotlight emerging voices while pushing boundaries—something that’s helped launch careers like Ryan Coogler and Domee Shi in the past.

The Bigger Picture

What stands out most about this year’s lineup isn’t just the numbers—it’s the intention.

Nearly 50% of the competition films are directed by women, and half are directed by BIPOC filmmakers, signaling a continued commitment to representation and perspective.

And at 25 years in, Tribeca still feels rooted in its original mission: using storytelling as a way to bring people together.
