Andrew Walker & Tyler Hynes Reflect on the Hallmark Fans Who Have Shaped Their Journey

For 25 years, Hallmark Channel has built its brand around heartfelt storytelling, memorable romances, and a community that continues to support the network year after year. During a virtual press conference celebrating the milestone anniversary, I had the opportunity to ask Hallmark favorites Tyler Hynes and Andrew Walker about something a little different.

Fans often tell the actors how much Hallmark movies have impacted their lives. Instead, I wanted to know what the fans have given back to them.

Their answers were a heartfelt reminder that the appreciation is very much mutual.

Tyler Hynes Credits Fans for Creating a Welcoming Community

Tyler Hynes said the Hallmark audience has done far more than simply watch the movies—they’ve created an environment where kindness and acceptance thrive.

“I would say this playground that they’ve kind of created, that they are the people who set the tone,” Hynes shared. “They create an atmosphere that’s incredibly accepting and warm and encouraging. And I think it allows for all of this sort of pageantry that we’re involved in to feel very genuine and very kind and very safe.”

He explained that the positivity surrounding Hallmark extends beyond fan events and influences the workplace itself.

“I think they set the tone for what is an incredibly, as much of a positive, kind work environment that could ever possibly exist.”

Andrew Walker: “Thank the Fans”

Andrew Walker echoed Hynes’ appreciation, explaining that while fans regularly thank the actors, he believes the gratitude belongs to the audience as well.

“People say thank you for being in these movies, but thank them,” Walker said. “I thank the fans for accepting me and all my quirks and things that I do… Being an actor, you’re met with so much negativity and self-doubt, and this is anything but that.”

Walker also highlighted the collaborative spirit that defines Hallmark, saying its stars aren’t competing against one another.

“Each actor and each movie fills a void for somebody, and we’re not competing amongst each other. We’re all part of this conglomerate and this positive force… met with this fanbase that is truly unlike any other.”

A Community Built on Kindness

One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation wasn’t about ratings or upcoming movies. It was about community.

Whether meeting viewers at Christmas Con, interacting on social media, or hearing personal stories from fans, both Hynes and Walker emphasized that Hallmark’s success has always been rooted in the people who continue to embrace its uplifting stories.

As Hallmark Channel celebrates 25 years, it’s clear the relationship between its stars and its audience goes well beyond the screen. For Hynes and Walker, the fans haven’t simply supported their careers. They’ve helped create one of television’s most welcoming communities.
