November 3, 1975 marked the debut of, “Good Morning America,” and The BUZZ was able to celebrate the latest milestone. Back in May, we attended the Paley Center Honors where the morning show celebrated 50 years. Past and current hosts attended the red carpet to share some of their favorite moments that occurred during their time on the show.

We had the privilege of speaking with one of the former hosts of the show: Joan Lunden. She would co-host from 1980-1997. Lunden shared memories from hosting, including when she first got the call to be the co-host, as well as another announcement that same day:

“I learned so much from David Hartman. The biggest surprise for me was that when I got the call from my agent that I will be co-hosting ‘Good Morning America,’ thirty minutes later, I got a call from my gynecologist saying I was pregnant with my first child. I gave birth in July, and I started in August and brought the baby with me. I was one of the first women to ever do that. They were scheduling a big press day, and they told me, ‘Don’t talk about the baby.’ David opened up to questions, and the first? TIME Magazine asking, ‘We hear you are bringing your baby to work. How did you manage that?'”

Watch the full interview above to hear Joan Lunden speak about the show’s longevity.

“GMA” airs weekday mornings on ABC, with weekend morning shows and “GMA 3” during weekday afternoons.
