MAREE CHEATHAM (ex-Marie Horton)

BuzzWorthy Radio: What’s one of your favorite memories from your times at Days?

Maree Cheatham: When I came back.

BWR: Which time?

MC: Well all of them. But actually it was for Macdonald Carey’s funeral. I was in the Horton living room, and you know how actors shove things under a cushion when they’re ready to work? Well, I embroidered when I was on the set because it keeps my mouth shut, and I looked in the drawer of the desk, and oh my god. There was a piece of my embroidery I had been working on. I took it home, and finished it, and cried. I hadn’t seen the thing in 25 years. I took it home and finished it, and it hangs on my wall now. But working with Frances Reid and Macdonald Carey was wonderful.

BWR: What was different in the beginning from the times you came back?

MC: Well, we only got $500 a show when I first started! We got a little more than that later on. No one knew if it was going to be a hit or not, and we just did our best and worked hard. We were just journeyman actors.

BWR: Is there anything you’d like to say to the fans?

MC: Oh, thank you! On my knees and from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
