Co-Executive Producer GREG MENG:

BuzzWorthy Radio: What’s been your favorite Days moment in the last 50 years?

Greg Meng: It’s interesting. It’s not on the show. We just did this amazing book tour. We were out, traveling all over, and people following us everywhere. Six thousand people showed up to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. But what I learned, which was the simplest thing but new to me believe it or not, is how important we are to all of our fans as part of their family. We’ve really realized how important we are to our fans. They’re not just fans. We’re literally part of their family.

BWR: Can you tease anything that’s coming up?

GM: I’ll tell you this. A lot of people think that the anniversary show airing Monday is going to be the be all end all. But it’s not. It’s a stepping stone to where we’re going, so we have a lot of great things coming up.

BWR: A lot of people have been concerned about the dwindling gay presence on the show with the death of Will and Sonny’s exit. Is there anything you can say to reassure fans about that?

GM: I’m going to be honest. I heard this everywhere. It was really heartwarming and interesting to have so many people have that be such an important thing to them. And I can’t answer anything right now, but we are very sensitive to the gay storyline, and we are very sensitive to the fact that we lost a very iconic character. It was very interesting to see how that is perceived across the country, and that’s all I can say right now.

Stay tuned, “Days” fans, as more interviews are on the way!

  1. ‘re Greg Meng: How can he say TPTB are “sensitive to the gay storyline” when they murdered one of the gay characters so brutally (Will) and shipped the other gay character (Sonny) off the show. The one remaining character (Paul) is only seen sporadically and has no story of his own. I still do not understand why they thought it was so important to have Will Horton killed. Just because Freddie Smith decided to leave the show they did not have to fire Guy WilSon. They could have had Will and Sonny reunite and live in Paris off screen. Arianna could have visited her daddies off screen.
