PaleyImpact Interviews: Vladimir Duthiers and Sheila Ducksworth Talk “Beyond the Gates”

The BUZZ had the opportunity to attend the latest PaleyImpact event celebrating, “Beyond the Gates,” at the Paley Center for Media. CBS Daytime will be making history as this is the first new daytime drama to premiere since 1999, as well as feature a predominantly African-American cast in an hour-long format. NBC had done something similar with the series, “Generations,” which premiered in 1989 and lasted until 1991. However, the show was only a 30-minute format. “Beyond the Gates” is set to open up a new door for daytime television and shining a light on not only black excellence, but it will also shine on daytime soap excellence as a whole.

CBS Mornings correspondent Vladimir Duthiers served as the moderator for the event. He spoke with us briefly about the support that CBS and Paramount+ has shown for the upcoming series. He also talked about how we are about to be immersed in something that we have never seen before on television.

Executive Producer Sheila Ducksworth also echoed Duthiers’ statements. She expressed what was going through her head as we are about to see something new hit the airwaves in just a matter of hours.

“Beyond the Gates” premieres Monday, February 24th at 2PM ET/1 PM PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
