After it was shortly announced that Paul Lee was leaving his duties as ABC Entertainment President, leadership took an interesting turn as we have the first African-American woman at the helm. Channing Dungey began her role as ABC Entertainment President on February 17, and now another woman is going to oversee the ABC Daytime aspect.
Broadcasting & Cable has reported that Rebecca Campbell, who had been president of ABC owned television stations, will fill the role of overseeing ABC Daytime. This will include all aspects of “The Chew,” “General Hospital,” and even the syndicated “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” and the soon-to-be ending “FABLife.”
Disney-ABC Television Group President, Ben Sherwood, mentioned that Campbell had extensive work in daytime, including producing daytime content at ABC affiliate WPVI-Philadelphia. Prior to her promotion, Campbell was general manager at WABC New York.
