Paley Center’s PALEYLAND Enchanted the Child in Us All!

OK… you are probably wondering why I am writing about Christmas in February. The BUZZ had a crazy last couple of months, including catching the flu TWICE. Yes, friends…please wash your hands and stay home if you are not well. Now, getting back on our feet, I can now speak about one the events that I had the pleasure of attending back in December: Paleyland!

To set the stage, the Paley Center for Media decorated its museum for the holiday season on all five floors. Each floor had something different. When we were first greeted, we were able to get a cup of hot chocolate and take our pictures with Rudolph. The Red Nosed Reindeer? Yes! I proceeded to go visit the train station in the “Paley Express.” It was such a beautiful display of trains in the glass case along with the buildings.

Now, the next stop was the arts and crafts floor. I guess you could say that I was not very much into doing arts and crafting, so I actually decided to watch some TV shows. I spent the time watching classic episodes of, “Bewitched,” and there were some original airings that are very rare. That was definitely intriguing to me as a fan and a longtime viewer. I suppose we could call that my intermission.

Actually, now that I think about it… I would say the intermission was when I was watching the Pixar movies. Watching may be the operative word here as I may or may not have dozed off. SSssshhhh….

There was a floor dedicated to video games. I watched the actual kids play, because if I got sucked into playing any video game, you’d have a difficult time getting me out of the chair to move onto the next thing. However, a lot of the games did bring back memories. Some I have not played in a while, and others were, “I have no idea what type of thing this is!” Either way, everyone had a great time!

We then finally went to visit Santa! We had to hurry, too, because Santa Claus was about to leave for the North Pole. Luckily, we were able to get there in time to get the pictures with him before he had to take his sled and leave.

For my first Paleyland experience, this was a lot of fun. Being in New York City to celebrate the Christmas holiday can sometimes be a hassle, but with Paleyland in existence, you are able to step inside and get into the holiday spirit with pictures, Santa, and hot chocolate. The best part about the entire experience was seeing the kids having a great time. That is really what it was all about. They got to take part in kid-friendly activities with their families, and it brought such a joy to their faces. Those moments cannot be beat.

I want to personally thank the Paley Center for Media for having me at Paleyland this past December. This truly was a wonderful experience, and I hope to be a part of it again in 2025.

Blessings to all!
