British producer Mal Young has joined the ranks of CBS Daytime’s “The Young and the Restless.” Young took to his official Twitter account to announce he finished his first week working at the show:
“End of week one and loving my new @YandR_CBS family.”
It has not been announced exactly what role Young will play at the number one daytime drama, but he has an extensive list of credits to his name. Aside from “EastEnders,” Young served as executive producer on many BBC programs including, “Doctor Who,” “Doctors,” “Holby City,” “Family Affair,” and “Casualty.”
We Love Soaps posted a quote featuring an interview Young did in 2011 with BBC News about the daytime soap decline in the United States. The producer was developing a primetime soap in Los Angeles at the time, and had this to say:
“I think we might be seeing the end of an era. Ratings for these shows are dropping, especially amongst younger female viewers – and making reality shows is cheaper. “It sends out a warning sign that you can never take the audience for granted.”
Whatever the case may be, we at the BUZZ welcome Mal Young to the “Y&R” family!
