Coinciding with the launch of a Kickstarter, television stalwarts Joey, Matt and Andrew—better known as the Lawrence Brothers–are appearing with co-writers The Berkowitz Brothers (Josh Gad’s The Writer) and comics artist Sean Von Gorman (The Pedestrian) to discuss the satirical fever dream about the absurdity of pop culture found within the pages of their first graphic novel, The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency. Moderated by Ryan J. Downey (MTV News, Billboard).
Whether you know them from Blossom, Boy Meets World or Brotherly Love, The Lawrence Brothers have been pop-culture icons for 30+ years. Now they are teaming with The Berkowitz Brothers, Sean Von Gorman and Z2 to bring fans The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency, an original graphic novel series, launching on Kickstarter, July 24th, 2025.
The Lawrence Brothers share:
“We are so excited to bring The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency to life with the Berkowitz Brothers. You have never seen us like this before and we cannot wait for you to join us on this epic quest to uncover some wild mysteries. We are beyond excited to join the Kickstarter community and get our fans involved.”
Co-Created and written by The Lawrence Brothers (Joey, Matt and Andrew) and the Berkowitz Brothers (Josh Gad’s The Writer) with additional writing from Brian Yuran and art by Eisner-nominated Sean Von Gorman, of Comics, this darkly funny graphic novel reimagines former child stars Joey, Matthew, and Andrew Lawrence as reluctant heroes battling a conspiracy that’s warping the very fabric of fame. Set against the surreal backdrop of a corrupted Hollywood, The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency follows the brothers as they survive a monster outbreak at Comic-Con, uncover a nostalgia prison run by AI, and infiltrate a secret cult rewriting entertainment history. Filled with sibling rivalry and faded celebrity, this is a satirical fever dream about identity, memory, and the absurdity of pop culture. Think BoJack Horseman meets Chinatown. Smart, surreal, and completely not what anyone expected… and that’s exactly the point.
