This year, “The Young and the Restless” celebrated its 43rd anniversary of being on the air. In 2012, the show reached a milestone of showcasing 10,000 episodes. Now, come September, “Y&R” will celebrate another occasion when the daytime drama will air its 11,000th episode.
There have been some very memorable moments within the show’s history. Of course, one cannot forget what started the Katherine Chancellor/Jill Foster rivalry. After a drunk Kay drove Phillip Chancellor to his death, it stemmed a long time cattiness between the two vixens for many years.
Other epic stories included The John/Jill/Jack triangle. Jill gets trapped in a snowstorm, and Jack comes to her aid…however, the two spend a night of passionate love-making. Of course, it would be a few years before John learned of his wife’s infidelity…even though most of the town knew thanks to certain photos being taken.
Speaking of photos, how about Sheila Carter? This woman made Lauren Fenmore’s life a living nightmare. Who would have thought that after being buried alive by her stalker, her days could get even worse? The baby switching, followed by the infamous catfight in the lab, and then Lauren and Brad’s affair where Sheila had compromising photos of the two.
We could relive everything known to man about what transpired in Genoa City. David Kimble’s shooting to his untimely trash compactor death, to Brad Carlton being locked in a cage, and Nikki Newman! The list goes on and on. It looks like we are still in for some surprises in store for the residents of the fictional town of Wisconsin.
With Michael Graziadei and Tristan Rogers returning to the show, one can only imagine what these writers have in store for the characters of Daniel Romalotti and Colin Atkinson. Not to mention Elizabeth Hendrickson is back to stir things up for some of the GC elite!
