Paul Wesley stars in the hit CW series, “The Vampire Diaries,” but fans will get the chance to see him take on a different type of role in the movie, “Amira & Sam.” Wesley plays the role of Charlie, and can be described as a “wolf of Wall Street” type of mogul. We spoke with him about the character and what drew him into playing this part:

“He definitely has money on his mind. The moral ambiguity is something that Charlie has in common with (Leonardo) DiCaprio’s character, I suppose.”

He continues…

“If I’m not on a show for an extended period of time, I look for characters that are opposite of what I play on a daily basis. The film is very grounded, and there is nothing supernatural about it, which I think is nice. My character is married, has a baby on the way, professional and successful. For me, it was nice to play an adult. Even though my character is an adult on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ at the same time he is sort of a child, I suppose. He has sort of childlike issues and ambitions. Listen, I’m 32. I’m not a young kid anymore. So, it was a breath of fresh air playing this character in the movie. Also, he is morally ambiguous. He is doing some things that are questionable, and that is always interesting for any actor. Actors love to sort of…I hate to use this word…but sink their teeth into different characters. *laughs*”

This upcoming Thursday’s episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” entitled, “Woke Up with a Monster,” is Wesley’s second episode he has directed in the series. He tells us about directing this episode:

“I’m incredibly proud of this episode. I think that the viewers will really love it. It’s an entertaining episode, and the last 3-4 minutes of it are intense. I know it’s going to end with a bang. People are going to be pretty knocked out by the last frame. I hope it affects people the way I think it will. Everyone I have shown it to had a very positive response, including (Executive Producer) Julie Plec and the network. I hope to do this a bunch more, because I loved it so much.”

I would reveal more to this podcast, but I don’t want to give too much away! To find out what else Paul Wesley had to say, especially to the “Steroline” fans, about his time at “Guiding Light,” what he would like to see for Stefan, download the full podcast above.
