After much online speculation, it has been confirmed that Emmy-winner Tyler Christopher is not heading back to “General Hospital,” according to Soap Digest. The actor has not been seen on-air for several months as contract negotiations had hit a standstill.

Christopher originated the role of Nikolas Cassadine in 1996. After three years, he departed the role, only for him to return in 2003. This past April, Christopher received a Daytime Emmy Award for, “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.” Currently, the actor is working on the independent film, “Pretty Broken.”

During his hiatus, Nikolas was temporarily played by Nick Stabile, who fans remember from his role of Mark on NBC’s “Sunset Beach.” From 1999-2003, Colton Scott (now Stephen Martines) took on the role.
