After having the ceremony on television the past 40 years, expect this year to take a different turn. The 41st Daytime Emmy Awards will stream online for the very first time, Deadline reports, as NATAS was not able to secure a television deal.

First reported by Soap Opera Network, executive producer David Michaels revealed that the show would stream online if they do not reach a TV deal. Soon after, Daytime Confidential reported that cable network TVGN (which runs same day episodes of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”) made an offer to NATAS of $1 million to air the ceremony on their station. However, according to the DC report, NATAS refused.

In an official statement from the Chairman of NATAS, Malachy Wienges, he responds:

“We are confident that the expert team we’ve brought on will flawlessly execute an evening that celebrates the outstanding talent being honored and allows fans to be a part of the action.”

The Daytime Emmy Awards honors excellence in daytime television programming including soap operas, morning news programs, talk shows, and game shows.

Fans will be able to stream the ceremony online on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT at http://www.daytimeemmys.net, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
