“Daytime Emmy Awards” to Combine Younger Actor/Actress Category Into One

Emmys

In a report that was first announced via Variety, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences are set to combine the Younger Actor and Actress categories into one at the Daytime Emmy Awards. What is also interesting to note is that this newly merged category will find both broadcast and digital drama performers within the same frame.

According to the article, the subject of combining the two categories comes from a conversation NATAS had over wanting to incorporate gender-inclusive categories, and whether it still makes sense for award shows.

What do you think of the idea of the Daytime Emmy Awards wanting to merge the Younger categories into one?

  1. I think it encompasses too many actors in one category. If this happens in all categories as for Best Actor, Supporting… then that is fair. Until then I’m not in favor of this!
