In a surprising casting move, Michelle Stafford is returning to Genoa City! Daytime Confidential has reported that the original Phyllis Summers is back at “The Young and the Restless.”
Stafford, who has won Daytime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Phyllis, began her time at “Y&R” in 1994, leaving the show in 1997. She would then return home in 2000, and would eventually leave the show again in 2014. Currently, Phyllis has been played by Gina Tognoni, whose credits also include originating Kelly Cramer on, “One Life to Live,” and Dinah Marler on, “Guiding Light.” Reportedly, Tognoni has been let go from the show.
Stafford, as of 2015, has played the role of Nina on, “General Hospital.” No word yet on what the plans are for that character.
What do you think of this casting news?
