Mal Young, who currently serves as executive producer and head writer of CBS Daytime’s, “The Young and the Restless,” is exiting the soap. Young came to the show in 2016, and had many UK shows under his belt, including working as EP on “Eastenders,” and “Hollyoaks.” Young took over the EP title from Jill Farren Phelps, and would soon also take on head writer after Sally Sussman Morina and Kay Alden.

In a statment with Showbiz 411, Young stated:

“Just arrived in London for the holidays. I felt like it was a good time to move on. Never a good idea to get too settled on a long running soap and I achieved all that I and CBS set out to do: improved scripts and production values. I have a project of my own that I’ve been developing and want to pursue that now. Plus running a show like this is all consuming and want to get a bit of my life back – and see my family occasionally!”

What are your thoughts on Young’s departure from the soap?
