In news that may either shock and/or upset fans, Jane Elliot is taking the character of Tracy Quartermaine out of Port Charles. Daytime Confidential broke word that the actress has informed co-stars and her bosses that she will not be re-signing her contract when it expires this spring on “General Hospital.”
Elliot began playing the popular character of Tracy in 1978, and has been involved in several noteworthy storylines, including the infamous 1980 episode where she kept pills from father Edward Quartermaine…only for her to be officially be cut out of the will. This episode was voted as a favorite by TV Guide Magazine.
Elliot would leave the ABC soap and take her talents to other shows, including, “Knots Landing,” and then, “Guiding Light,” where she played the Emmy-winning role of Carrie Todd. Shortly after her departure from “GL,” Elliot began playing the role of Cynthia Preston Cortlandt on “All My Children,” and then Anjelica Devereaux on “Days of our Lives.”
Elliot reprised the role of Tracy in 1989, and would stay with the show until 1993. She would then take the character to the “LOVING” spinoff, “The City,” in 1996, and would make special appearances on “GH” before returning to the show full time in 2003.
