In a shocking move that has stunned a lot of the daytime community, Michael Muhney has been let go from the CBS Daytime drama, “The Young and the Restless.” The Emmy nominated actor took over the part of Adam Newman in 2009 from previous actor, Chris Engen. Muhney broke the news to his fans on his official Twitter page:

“I’m so sorry. It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on set is this Thursday.

My last air date will be Jan 30th. I’m going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being…

I have 3 final episodes to film, and because they are my last, I will be giving it everything I have. More details will follow… #xoxoxo

Rumor has it via TV Guide’s Michael Logan that the role may possibly be recast.

What do you think of the latest casting news?

  1. What the hell??? Yand R should be rethinking this move of letting go of Michael Muhney. He is a great actor and it’s not his Adam character, it his acting style. I’ve watched the show from the beginning and I’ve seen good actors leave but this will be the end of Yand R for this fan. Michael get on a new show quickly and I’ll gladly follow you to your next big adventure.

  2. Are you f—— kidding me????????????????????? Billy now Adam? I truely hope this show sinks to the bottom. You morons don’t have a f—— clue what your viewers want. Screw you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. This is really pissing me off…as a long time fan of 20+ years..I have watched since I was a little girl with my nana and started again in my young adult life…BOOO this decision is almost as bad as the Aprils Fools Day cancellation announcement of Guiding Light…Adam AKA Michael Muhney is one of very few reasons I watch anymore…this and recast of Abbey is not good..Get rid of youngens to afford the real vets who make the show worth watching… F***!!!!!!

  5. This show is getting more irritating by the day. I cannot express my level of disappointment and disgust upon learning we are losing Michael. Big, big mistake. I want him to stay. And Billy Miller, too. Too, too many fan favorites going away.

  6. I agree 100% with the ladies above. Michael is just such a believable actor along with Billy.
When it’s Michaels last show, it will also be my last show after watching Y & R for over 25 years.
What is wrong with you people?

  7. Y&R should consider to recast the role yes with the original actor Chris Engen to the role. They they wanted to give Adam a break of something like seven months in order to find a suitable replacement for Michael well the should start to negociate to bring back Chris back to the role so that they can go to a new direction with this character Adam Wilson Newman.

  8. Y&R should try to bring back Chris Engen in the role he originated, the show needs to go to a whole new direction with the character of Adam Newman. If recast happens they should Chris for the role by doing some screen test with chelsea and bring more competition if not rehire Michael in the role if not do not bring Adam at all.
Happy New Year to all. Anything can on Y&R in the new year.

  10. Michael Muhney delivered incredible performances day in and day out. The audience could see that he was the best actor on the show or there wouldn’t have been the outcry over this ridiculous situation. Jill Farren Phelps targeted him and then smeared him. It’s so obvious that she brought in her pet Steve Burton to take over the show. Terrible move. Y&R deserves to fail. I hope it’s cancelled. I quit watching because I can’t stand to look at Eric Braeden, Melody Thomas Scott, Kristoff St John, and Doug Davidson. Despicable people.

  11. Have watched this Soap for a long period of time. Way back to when the Brooks family was there, Niki was a stripper and Victor and his buddy saw her, he wanted her and the rest is history.Have watched Jill seduce the husband of Katherine when she was a drunk.Watched the Brooks and Abbott family through their growing days and then is dear old Victor. The bad ass of all times. Rich, obnoxious as hell, horny and all. But this past five or six months they have lost three of the best actors/actresses ever walked into their building where this soap is taped…..Michelle Stafford is one of a kind..never will be anyone playing the way she did.. When Billy Miller walked..his fans went ape. Sexy, handsome, talented, intelligent, sense of humor, and oh my that smile. Never will any other man play Billy Abbott the way he did. Last but not least..Micheal Muhney….Damn what a hunk he was. Classy, intelligent. best business man that all the others the others on the show, sexy. made female fans hot to wait for the next episode he would be in. Really think the writers and producers crapped a hard one in their hand when they lost these three. Hope they continue with their talent and make every one involved with Y & R eat the crow they bought.
